If you have the following seal/rear housing part numbers:

5.7L Y CAR The rear seal on the LSI engine has two inner sealing lips. One is made of ribbed Teflon and is fragile. If installed without using GM-41479-B, the lip will roll causing an oil leak.

• 12639250 or 89060436: Use GM-41479-B or ST-197
• 14088556, 14088557, or 10088158: Use GM-35621-B or ST-192

Applications: 4.8L, 5.3L, 5.7L, 6.0L, 6.2L, and more

Additional Information:

• For 1986 – 1996 models, use GM-35621-B.
• Due to their performance output, supercharged 6.2L V8s have a 9-bolt rear crankshaft flange. The GM-41479 installer will not fit 9-bolt crankshafts. Use GM-41479-B, which will back-service to 1997.
• Unapproved installation methods may damage or incorrectly install the seal, resulting in leaks.
